High levels of cortisol production often correlates to high stress levels in your body. Although, to be fair, cortisol is only one factor that is considered in the assessment of stress levels.
Chronic stress leads you to consume foods that aid in the production of even more cortisol, leading you down a vicious cycle of excess cortisol, and feelings of even more stress.
However, there are many delicious, nutritious foods, that can be consumed on a regular basis to alleviate the production of excess cortisol in your body. Why not eat your way to feeling better?
A 2019 Study demonstrated how adding healthy whole carbohydrates foods dampens the effects of cortisol responsiveness in your body. So what carbohydrate foods should you be adding to naturally alleviate cortisol production?
Whole Grains such as Steel Cut Oats, Old Fashioned Oats, Ancient Grains such Barley, BuckWheat etc.
Whole Organic Fruits, and Organic Vegetables.
Legumes such as Kidney Beans, Lentils.
Nuts & Seeds such as Pistachios.
According to a 2015 Study, eating fermented foods have been shown to not only reduce inflammation, but to also reduce your body’s stress responses in social situations. Examples of fermented foods are:
