30 DAYS BEFORE & AFTER: Intermittent Fasting 16:8 Day 3

Intermittent Fasting Day 3: How I break my 16:8 Fasting Window?

I struggled the past two days with the taste of black coffee. It was unappealing and essentially “ruined” my mornings. Today though, I tried Bulletproof Coffee. I blended freshly brewed Original Bulletproof Coffee with 1/2 Tsp of butter. My coffee came out creamy, frothed, and incredibly delicious! (Problem solved.)

The Bulletproof Coffee kept me satiated and happy, and I unexpectedly prolonged my fasting window to 18 hours!

I broke my fast by eating an early lunch which consisted of stewed grass fed beef w/potatoes, steamed kale/spinach, and basmati rice. My beef stew recipe can be accessed here.

Intermittent Fasting Day 3: Snacking and Desserts

Many of the literature on fasting recommends cutting down or eliminating snacking and desserts all together. Or consuming high quality, non-sugar, snacks that nourishes your body. Mentally I couldn’t imagine eliminating either. However, something shifted on Day 3 of my Intermittent Fasting. I easily eliminated all snacks within my eating window, as well the need for any desserts. It was fluid, and did not require any extra effort. I attributed the ease with which it happened to eating healthy grass fed meat at lunch which kept me full, and to replacing all snacks/desserts with my soothing Chai Tea without the optional sweetener.

Around 3PM, my usual time when I would crave something sweet, I decided to replace the dandelion root tea bags in my Detox Chai Tea Recipe with Earl Grey Tea Bags (infused with real citrus bergamot essential oils) as I love the taste as well as the additional caffeine.

Intermittent Fasting Day 3 Sleeping Issues

Since starting Intermittent Fasting, I have been experiencing more energy throughout my day. In the mornings prior to eating, I have total clarity of mind, and a sense of inner confidence to handle my most challenging tasks of the day.

However, my evenings have been interesting. I usually finish dinner before 5PM and that marks the beginning of my fasting window. Around 9PM, I would start experiencing a surge of energy. My cells pulsate with energy. By 11PM, I lay in bed amazed at the “aliveness” of my body. I do fall asleep somewhere between 11 PM – 11:30 PM.
